How To Set Up Additional FTP Accounts In cPanel

How-to Steps:

  1. Log into cPanel
  2. In the Files section, click FTP Accounts.
  3. In the Login field, type a username, and then enter a password in the two password fields.
  4. Set a quota for the FTP account.  It's usually fine toleave the quota at unlimited, if the account is for a developer to access for website updates.  If you are using the account simply as an online repository or for file transfers, you should consider setting limits as appropriate.
  5. Ensure the Directory field contains only "/" if you wish to provide access to the whole website.  Again, if the FTP account is an online repository or for file transfers, you should specify an empty directory, e.g. "public_html/ftpusername".  The FTP user will not be able to navigate outside of the specified directory; however, they will be able to access all files and subfolders inside that folder.
  6. Click Create.
