CentOS 7 and CloudLinux 7 will reach End-of-Life (EOL) support on June 30, 2024 by their respective upstream vendors. This means that these operating systems will no longer receive security updates.

For customers running cPanel on these operating systems; cPanel has announced the Extended Lifecycle Support Program.  CentOS 7 and CloudLinux 7 servers running cPanel will be automatically enrolled in the program and continue to receive security updates until January, 2026.  cPanel has also announced that cPanel partners will be charged a small fee per month for each customer server in the Extended Lifecycle Support Program. Entity Data will not pass on this fee until January 1, 2025.

Additional reading on the Extended Lifecycle Support Program can be found here:

Customers with cPanel installations on CentOS 7 and CloudLinux 7 can review cPanel's in-place upgrade procedure to AlmaLinux 8 or CloudLinux 8:

Customers with Non-cPanel CentOS 7 or CloudLinux 7 servers can review the AlmaLinux upgrade procedure here:

Customers who wish Entity Data to handle the in-place upgrade procedure can contact us to discuss options. Customers with the High Care SLA or Critical Care SLA will be prioritised and have this work completed without any additional charges. Customers planning to handle the upgrade procedure themselves should ensure a snapshot is in place prior, to allow for an easy rollback.

Please contact Entity Data Support for any questions.
