Prerequisites: You must have a Velosity SSD VPS with R1Soft Backups as an addon
A. To do a bare metal restore, you must first change the boot order for your VPS and boot to the Server Backup Agent.
- Login to the client area at https://secure.entitydata.com.au
- Find the VPS service/product under Services and click/open it
- Under server information
- Change the CD/DVD Disc Image File to - Serverbackup Bootcd Agent and Save changes
- Change the Boot Order to make the CD-ROM as Device 1 and Save changes
- Under control panel, click on the Reboot button.
- Make sure it have a network and the agent is running. If it's not running run the command '/etc/init.d/cdp-agent start'
B. Once it is booted to the CD-ROM you would then need to login to your Server Backup Manager
- Still on the client area at https://secure.entitydata.com.au
- Find the R1Soft Backups product under Services and open/click on it
- Click on the Login To Control Panel button
- On the Server Backup Manager page, click on the Protected Machines
- Find the Machine you need a restore and click on the gear icon under Actions and click on the Open Recovery Options
- Choose which date/time you wish the restore to happen from and click on the gear icon under Actions and hit Bare Metal Restore from the drop down choices
- A pop-up will open and you can configure your restoration and once satisfied click on the Restore button.
- Wait for the restore to finish and when it's done you would need to change the boot order back to Disk as first priority as when you did it at Figure A.3. above.
- When the boot order is changed, click on the reboot button again (A.4. above).
And that's it, you have just completed a Bare Metal Restore for your VPS.
