Synopsis:
This guide contains instructions on how to an SRV record to your DNS zone.
An SRV record is a specification of data in the DNS defining the location (hostname and port number) of servers for specified services. Some Internet protocols such as the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) and the Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP) often require SRV support by network elements.
Prerequisites:
1. You must have a DNS Manager account with Entity Data.
How-to Steps:
In the below example we are adding the following record:
_sip._tls.entitydata.com.au. 3600 IN SRV 1 1 443 sip.entitydata.com.au.NB: This also presumes you have set up an A record for sip.entitydata.com.au
NB: If the 'Target' domain is different from the 'Host' domain, you need to enter a fullstop/period after it to prevent the system from automatically appending your domain name to the record, e.g. - sip.differentdomain.com.
Once you have transposed the values as described above, click 'Ok' and the record will then be added.
